The school is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Examination (ICSE). Since the very first batch of students sent up in 1996 to sit the ICSE examination, the school has had excellent results. The school offers apart from the languages, i.e. English, Telugu, Urdu and Hindi., Mathematics, Sciences (Physics, Chemistry & Biology), Social Sciences (History & Civics, Geography), Computer Applications and Environmental Applications. Computer Studies is introduced from Class IV onwards.
The Curriculum And Assessment
The school has opted for the I.C.S.E. syllabus and it is affiliated to the council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi, for classes VI – X .
Subjects offered in classes I & II are English , II language, Math & E.V.S. Class III – V has additional subjects of Social Studies & III Language. Computers is introduced from Class IV onwards.
Children opting for Hindi as II language will have to take Telugu as III Language and vice versa. However, children opting Urdu as II Language have an option of either Hindi or Telugu.
From Class VI on the Sciences and Social Studies are bifurcated as in the ICSE Syllabus into Physics, Chemistry . Biology, History Civics and Geography. Children are offered a choice between Environmental Application & Computer Application in Class VIII.
The student’s achievements are continuously assessed through slip tests, unit tests and home assignments. The final evaluation is made based on the oral and written tests. Project work is an essential component of the curriculum activity. There are four formative assessment tests and three summative assessments (term-end exams) for classes I to X . However, classes Nur – UKG are assessed continuously.
The school emphasis is not only on academics but also on Co-curricular activities. The children can opt for one of the following activities like Cricket, Music (Guitar, Keyboard, Tabla etc.), Dance, Karate, aerobics, gymnastics, brass band or Yoga. These activities are taught by qualified teachers. In addition to this various games, drills, arts and crafts are part of the school curriculum.
The school also has an educational psychologist who is on the school rolls. The psychologist interacts both with the teachers & the parents of children with special needs to help them not only in academics but also to solve their individual problems.
Excursions And Field Trips
Field trips and Excursions are organized regularly so that children get exposed to the environment at large. The High school & Senior School children are encouraged to go on out-of state excursions which in themselves are a total education.
The school has a tie up with ‘THE HINDU’ and has the NIE (Newspaper in Education) programme, where the children are encouraged to read the Newspaper in the classroom & also participate in discussions.
